About EDOPC
Working to improve the delivery and financing of preventive health and developmental services for children
The Enhancing Developmentally Oriented Primary Care Project (EDOPC) web site is a resource for healthcare providers. It contains up-to-date information on child development and mental health issues, including screening, referral and coding/billing for screenings. Through this site you can also enroll in online training on Developmental Screening, Social/Emotional Screening and Perinatal Maternal Depression.
EDOPC is a partnership of the Advocate Health Care Healthy Steps Program, the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP), the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP), and the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. Together, we are working to improve the delivery and financing of preventive health and developmental services for children birth to three. We build on existing programs, such as the Healthy Steps model, to develop a range of strategies that primary care settings can implement to most effectively provide comprehensive, developmentally oriented health care.
The project began in 2005 and is funded by multiple organizations, including:
- Michael Reese Health Trust
- Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation
- W. Clement and Jesse V. Stone Foundation
- Aetna Foundation (for maternal depression component)
- Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services
- Chicago Community Trust
- The Irving B. Harris Foundation
